Description:
Looking to push your skiing to the next level in off-piste environments? This course is designed for alpine skiers with prior experience in ungroomed terrain who want to refine their tactics and movement strategies for skiing in trees, steeps, and variable snow. The focus will be on advanced line selection, speed management, adaptability in mixed conditions, and refining movement patterns for confidence and control in more demanding terrain. Participants should already be comfortable skiing parallel on black terrain and have some experience in trees and steeps.
Learning Experiences:
Specific activities will vary depending on the group’s needs and environmental conditions and typically include:
- Guided free skiing with individualized feedback and movement analysis
- Terrain selection, advanced line choice, and risk management strategies
- Drills to improve agility, pressure management, and speed control in variable snow
- Group discussions on advanced tactics, etiquette, and decision-making in trees/steeps
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, successful participants will be able to:
- Apply advanced tactics for controlling speed, pressure, and line in steep, ungroomed terrain
- Demonstrate improved movement patterns for skiing short- and medium-radius turns in variable conditions
- Assess terrain features to make tactical choices for safety, efficiency, and performance
- Confidently manage transitions between different types of snow and terrain
