Course Description:
This course explores the components of the Teaching and Service models to help instructors to teach a broader range of guests. Topics to be addressed include the pros and cons of different types of feedback; how to identify and adapt to different learning styles; effectively moving beyond task and command teaching styles to create understanding and performance improvements; and identifying the stages of learning and how to move our guests understanding to the next level. This course is a useful prerequisite for a teaching assessment.
Learning Experiences:
Specific activities will vary depending on the group and environmental conditions; however, they will typically include:
• Develop teaching models incorporating the learning partnership, the teaching cycle, lateral learning, teaching for transfer with appropriate feedback.
• Identify Student Behavior, learning preferences, motivations, attitude and values.
• Identify Teacher Behavior, teaching styles, selecting appropriate activities, choosing appropriate terrain and providing meaningful feedback.
• Learn techniques to help with class management, safety and professionalism.
