Description:
The Telemark Level I College is a three-day course that blends coaching, practice, and assessment in preparation for Level I Certification. Participants will develop their Technical, People and Teaching skills—in line with the Learning Connection Model. Day 1 emphasizes coaching and feedback, while Days 2 and 3 will consist of a formal assessment process. Candidates should be ready to lead peers through basic instruction scenarios and demonstrate competency in the beginner/novice zone.
Candidates need to have completed their Telemark Level I Professional Knowledge Exam prior to registering.
Learning Experiences:
Specific activities will vary depending on group needs and environmental conditions and typically include:
- Practicing Level I assessment activities to build performance and understanding.
- Reviewing Assessment Forms, Activities, and Criteria.
- Participating in guided group discussions to connect knowledge and application.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, successful participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of the People skills by building trust within the learning environment.
- Apply Teaching skills to plan and deliver an engaging learning experience.
- Ski competently in terrain appropriate for beginner/novice students.
