Telemark Level III Assessment & Development Team Prep

Description:

You’ve put in the work. You’re skiing with precision and confidence. Your teaching is making a difference for students and peers alike. But you know there’s more ahead. If you feel called to step into the highest levels of Telemark certification or to serve the membership as an Education Staff Member, this event could be your next step.

This content serves as a preparation for both the Telemark Level III Assessment and the Development Team Tryout—an on-snow job interview that is the gateway to joining the Eastern Education Staff. Participants will strive for excellence in all three domains of the Learning Connection Model, with clinicians tailoring the focus to the group’s goals. To get the most out of the experience, participants should be confident skiing any terrain, groomed or ungroomed, for two full days and arrive ready to engage fully in their professional development journey.

Learning Experiences:

Specific activities will vary depending on the group’s needs and environmental conditions and typically include:

  • A review of the Level III Assessment and Development Team Tryout format and expectations.
  • Guided practice of Level III Assessment Activities.
  • Opportunities for peer-to-peer coaching with clinician-minded feedback.
  • Group discussions focused on assessment criteria and performance improvement.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course, successful participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of their personal performance in all three areas of the Learning Connection Model as compared to the National Standards.
  • Show familiarity with the Telemark Level III Assessment and Development Team Tryout processes, criteria, and typical activities.
  • Use current PSIA-AASI resources to analyze Telemark skiing performance, citing accurate cause-and-effect relationships across multiple fundamentals through all phases of the turn to create effective prescriptions for change.
  • More effectively analyze movement, apply technical knowledge, and adapt teaching strategies to create positive and productive learning experiences for a wide range of students in varying on-snow environments.
