Course Description:
Course Name: Snowboard Riding Retake/Assessment
Discipline: Snowboard
Time: 1 Day
Credits: 6 Continuing Education Credits
Environment: Up to Black Diamond
Prerequisites: Minimum Certified Level I
Course Description:
Riding assessment/retake events are designed for snowboarding instructors who want to have their riding assessed, based on the AASI Level II or III standards as appropriate. The course is 80% riding, 20% coaching. Coaching is provided for personal riding improvement. Riding tasks and situations will be similar to those chosen at the Level II and III Certification Exams. At the end of this course, you will be provided with a written assessment of your riding skills, including an overall score for the riding category. The assessment you receive is based on your performance that day and cannot accurately determine actual performance at the Certification Exams. Members who have participated in an exam and are eligible for a “Riding Retake” may use a passing score from this course to complete their Level II or III Certification as appropriate. Wearing a helmet is not required, but is encouraged at this course. Snowsports School Director’s signature is required for retakes.

Learning Experiences:
Specific activities will vary depending on the group and environmental conditions; however, they will typically include:
• Focus on personal riding improvement with frequent individual feedback
• Experiment with different movement and performance options
• Review the riding concepts and how they apply in various riding situations
• Determine personal riding skills based on the National Standards.
