Course Description:
Designed for instructors preparing for the Skiing and Technical Understanding & Movement Analysis modules of the Alpine Level III Assessment, this event combines skiing development, technical discussion, and movement analysis practice. Participants will explore the assessment expectations while refining their ability to continuously adjust the Alpine Technical Fundamentals, synthesize technical knowledge, and analyze skier performance through the advanced zone.
Participants should come prepared for two-days of high-performance, on-hill activities in varying conditions.
Learning Experiences:
Specific activities will vary depending on the group and environmental conditions and will typically include:
• A review of the Level III Certification Standards, Performance Guide, assessment format, and performance expectations, with opportunities for questions and discussion.
• Exploration of Level III assessment activities, with a focus on developing the ability to continuously adjust and blend the Alpine Technical Fundamentals across varied terrain, speeds, turn shapes, and tactics.
• Peer movement analysis practice, including opportunities to observe, evaluate, and prescribe changes to skiing performance.
• Technical discussions exploring relationships among the Alpine Technical Fundamentals, biomechanics, physics, tactics, equipment, terrain, and snow conditions.
• Opportunities to give and receive feedback on personal skiing, technical understanding, and movement analysis.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the event, successful participants will be able to:
• Gain greater clarity around the performance expectations of the Level III Skiing and Technical Understanding & Movement Analysis assessments.
• Refine their ability to blend and adjust the Alpine Technical Fundamentals to achieve specific skiing outcomes through the advanced zone.
• Deepen their understanding of the relationships among body movements, ski performance, tactics, equipment, and environmental factors.
• Strengthen their ability to identify cause-and-effect relationships and develop effective prescriptions for change.
• Use feedback and self-reflection to identify strengths and priorities for continued development.

Equipment/Materials Needed:
Alpine equipment suitable for a variety of terrain and conditions; front-side carving or all-mountain skis are recommended.

To transfer your registration to a different event, please cancel this registration and register for the new event.
If you need to cancel from an Eastern event:
- Up to 3 weeks prior to the event start: Full refund of the cost of your event registration.
- Less than 3 weeks prior to the event start: 50% refund of the cost of your event registration.
- Less than one week prior to the start date and time of your event, event registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Certain premier regional and national events follow a cancellation policy different from the standard cancellation policy outlined above. Please refer to those events directly for the applicable event cancellation policies.
If you need to cancel an Eastern premier event (an event that is 4 or more days):
- Email or call us at (518) 452-6095, as member portal cancelation is not available for premier events.
- Up to 3 weeks prior to the event start: Full refund of the cost of your event registration.
- Less than 3 weeks prior to the event start: 50% refund of the cost of your event registration.
- IF YOU DO NOT SHOW AT EVENT REGISTRATION AND DO NOT CONTACT US by 4:30pm on last business day before the event: No refund.
Please note that no refunds will be issued for events once attended. We encourage members to review event details carefully before registering to ensure a satisfactory experience. Extenuating circumstances (medical or bereavement) will be considered for a refund if notification is given at the earliest opportunity, and the request is received within one week after the start of the event.
Our goal is to ensure all events run as scheduled; however, there are times, with very little notice, that we may have to cancel or move an event due to factors beyond our control. We encourage you to consider this possibility when making travel plans.
