Course Description:

Ready to refresh your cross country skiing and teaching while staying current with the latest developments from PSIA-AASI? This clinic blends personal skiing improvement with opportunities to explore effective teaching strategies. Participants may choose to focus on classic, skate, or both techniques, based on their goals and available equipment. Using the Cross Country Fundamentals and XC Technical Model, you’ll develop your skiing while connecting technical understanding to student-centered lesson design. Along the way, you’ll explore current concepts, share ideas with peers and education staff, and leave with updated tools you can apply to both your own skiing and your teaching this season.

Learning Experiences:

Specific activities will vary depending on the group’s needs, equipment choices, and environmental conditions and typically include:

• Personal skiing improvement in classic and/or skate techniques

• Exploration of current technical concepts through varied terrain, activities, and tactics

• Teaching activities and scenarios with opportunities for peer and clinician feedback

• Discussion and practice connecting technical understanding and movement analysis to effective lesson design

• Q & A with education staff on current teaching, technical, equipment, and organizational updates

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course, successful participants will be able to:

• Apply current PSIA-AASI Cross Country technical concepts to improve personal classic and/or skate skiing

• Use the XC Technical Fundamentals to identify opportunities for performance improvement

• Apply current teaching concepts to create engaging, student-centered learning experiences

• Connect technical understanding and movement analysis to effective teaching strategies
