Course Description:

The Certified Level I process consists of an assessment of basic skiing skills, teaching skills, and professional knowledge (which refers to technical and mechanical knowledge as well as to knowledge of guest service, PSIA, the ski industry, and risk management). Candidates should be prepared to lead the group through some basic ski instruction scenarios.

Please refer to the Alpine Assessment Guide and reference information for complete details at https://www.psia-e.org/ed/alpine-education.

We highly recommend reviewing the National Standards.

All Alpine & AASI Level I Exam candidates are required to complete the online component Level I eLearning course prior to registering for their on-snow evaluation.

We have added an optional Alpine Intro to Level I Webinar designed to help instructors prepare for the Level I assessment! With the introduction of the Learning Connection Model and the Unified Assessment Form, the Level I assessment has evolved significantly. Held on the evening of the third Wednesday of each month, starting in November, this two-hour webinar is just the thing you’ll need to know how to prepare for the assessment. You’ll go over the format, review the Unified Assessment Form, get an introduction to the Learning Connection Model and the Skiing, Teaching and People Skills, talk through some samples of the skiing activities in which you will be assessed, and have plenty of time to ask questions. Please join us for this informative webinar and know before you go! It is highly recommended you complete the “Course for New Instructors” and “Alpine Level I eLearning” courses. These courses are free online at https://lms.thesnowpros.org/lms-coursess   You can register for this optional webinar at www.psia-e.org/intro
