Course Description:

Course Name: Level II Assessment Prep Teaching

Discipline: Alpine

Time: 2 Days (12 credits)

Terrain – Beginner to moderate Advanced terrain

Course Description:

Are you ready to test the waters of the Level II Teaching Assessment? Are you looking for a way to practice your teaching with supportive peers and evaluators? In this course, the Teaching Skills, People Skills, Movement Analysis Skills, and the Technical Understanding components of the assessment will be explored, explained, examined and put into practice. Like an actual assessment, candidates will watch each other ski, conduct movement analysis and work to develop effective teaching segments that improve performance. Conversations on the hill, and off, will deepen participants’ understanding of the assessment tools (unified assessment forms) and the National Standards used in scoring. While personal skiing improvement is not the focus of this event, participants may find that the conversations, practice and coaching from their peers creates lasting change in their own skiing performance.

Prerequisites:

· Current PSIA-AASI Membership, Level 1 Certification.

· Successful completion of the PSIA Level II Skiing Assessment is preferred, but not required.

Recommended Preparation:

· Alpine Technical Manual

· Teaching Snowsports Manual

· PSIA-E Alpine Assessment Guide

· PSIA Alpine Certification Standards

· A fitness level adequate for two full days of skiing.
