Course Description:
This event is all about earning our turns and learning about split boarding inbounds at a resort. All participants are encouraged to bring a split board as their primary mode of transportation during this event as well as a backpack, collapsible poles, multiple layers and changes of clothing, sunglasses, snacks, water, goggles, and outerwear to change into for the descents. We will explore various techniques for going uphill efficiently and effectively, tactics and techniques for conserving and managing energy while ascending the mountain, we’ll practice converting split boards from uphill mode into downhill mode and vice versa, we’ll discuss strategies for how to dress for both the ascents and descents, we’ll talk about how to manage the supplies in your backpack throughout the day, and we’ll simply enjoy the aspect of improving both our uphill and downhill technique on our snowboards over the course of 2-days. The resort will provide lift tickets for the event as a backup plan or in case the group runs out of energy needed for ascents on either day. But the focus of the 2 days will be on earning our turns by splitboarding up and riding down as a group. This course is primarily aimed at folks who are newer to splitboarding, who want to polish up or practice some new skills, or who want to explore an amazing new mountain with a new group of splitboard friends. We will be staying in bounds at the resort for both days of this event, and we will not be exploring the backcountry.
Additional Event Details:
We are super stoked to have Burton supply us with ten splitboard setups, including a full splitboard and bindings, at our Snowboard Splitboarding Camp at The Hermitage Club scheduled for February 29 – March 1, 2024. The first ten members who sign up and do not currently have their own splitboard setup will be eligible to use these splitboard setups, just include your height, weight, Snowboard boot size, and the size of the snowboard you usually ride. We are super thrilled to partner with Burton and offer these setups to AASI Members! PLEASE NOTE: participants must bring their own boots. Register today!
